Work In Progress

Who was it that told me
That I could not be all I dreamt

Who was it that told me
I was worthy of contempt

Who was it that shamed me
Who was it that blamed me
Who was it

Who was it that taught
What I never should have learned

Who was it that brought
What I never even earned

You can stand there with your judgement
But that doesn't work for me

You can snub me with a glance
But that doesn't work for me

You can caste me aside
But that doesn't work for me

I am standing in my self
And I know
I have walked with these bones
And slept in this skin
I have carried this soul in its human home
This mighty light
This awesome spark

I have carried this soul in every weary bone
And this soul, she is magnificent
She astounds the heavens with her strength
And this soul, she reaches up and she bathes in the shining light of God

So if you want me to feel small
Well....
That doesn't work for me.
